End of day summary and outlook for 14Dec06

As expected the markets bounced back today from the lower levels. It was volatile though. The level of 3700.00 is acting as a good support. The volumes were good in the market suggesting that this is not a dead cat bounce. The advance decline ratio was also good at 3 advancing stocks to veery 1 declining stock. The NSE nifty closed at the day's high at 3765.20 with a gain of 48.30 points and the BSE sensex closed at 13181.34 with a gain of 186.32 points. The FII figures also suggested the end of correction as they were net buyers in cash and stock futures for 24.52 crores and 300.34 crores respectively. They were net sellers in the index futures for 284.52 crores. There was good buying in lot of nifty stocks.Reliance communication was the biggest gainer of the day.

Tomorrow is the decisive day where the actual trend of the market can be determined. If the Nifty holds 3700.00 at the end of the day we can assume that the correction is over and the market will recover slowly, otherwise we can expect one more round of selling upto 3500.00

Tuesday, December 12, 2006

End of day summary and outlook for 13Dec06

Today was the third consecutive day of downfall, the biggest in three days. Today's overall volume was huge and the advance decline ratio was very poor with 1 advancing stock to every 13 declining stocks. All the index stock was hit badly and the midcap stocks were not spared either. The NSE Nifty closed at 3716.90 with a loss of 132.60 and BSE sensex closed at 12995.02 with a loss of 404.41 points. The BSE sensex intraday low of 12800.00 made it a fall of 1200 points in 3 days. The Fiis were net buyers in cash market for 258.82 crores, net sellers in index futures for 415.28 crores and net buyers of 480.58 crores in stock futures.

Tomorrow the fall is definately not as huge as today and the markets will bounce back from lower levels. The first indication is the buying in the stock futures by FIIs today after a huge selloff in the past few days. The second indication is the fibinacci retracement levels which indicate support around 3720.00 levels. If the markets close decisively below this level for two consecutive days we could see selling upto 3506.00 levels. I would boldly suggest buying at every lower level from here on. On the upper side the resistance is at 3850 and 3890 levels.

End of day summary and outlook for 12Dec06

It was a black monday followed by a black Friday. Huge fall in the markets. Correction was always round the corner. Over 570 points wiped out of BSE sensex in 2 days. There wasnt a single gainer in Nifty today. The over heated bank stocks finally saw some meaningful correction. The NSE Nifty closed at 3849.50 with a loss of 112.50 points whereas the BSE sensex closed at 13399.43 with a loss of 400.06 points. The FIIs were net buyers in the cash market for 334.21 crores, net sellers of huge 1250.56 crores in index futures and 82.62 crores in stock futures. This very well indicates that the correction is not yet over. The advance decline ratio was also very poor at 1 advancing stock to every 9 declining. The cut was deeper in the large cap stocks as compared to midcap and small cap stocks.

The outlook for the medium and long term is still bullish. The bull run is intact. In the short term I expect the Nifty to take support at 3720 levels. I donot see this level being broken shortly but if that happens then the next support for Nifty is at 3506 only. For tomorrow the markets will definately open weak and might see some recovery in the second half. 3720 is possible in intraday itself. On the higher side the resistance is at 3882 and 3934.

End of day summary and outlook for 11Dec06

Today can be said as a black friday as this kind of correction was not seen in a long time now. The Nifty NSE closed at 3962.00 with a loss of 53.35 points. The BSE sensex closed at 13799.49 with a loss of 172.54 points. The advance decline ratio was 1:2 The FIIs were net sellers in the cash market for 204.58 crores, 1087.26 crores in index futures and 105.82 crores in stock futures. The markets were overall in a sell mode as there were only a handful of nifty stocks in positive. The selling was more aggressive in index stocks than the midcap and small cap stocks. The expections were IFlex and Polaris which went up by 17% and 9% respectively.

Monday is the desicive day. If the Nifty trades below 3944.00 you can safely assume that the correction has started in market. My assumption is that the correction might take it till 3750.00
On monday the Nifty will take support at 3944-3898-3840 and face resistance at 4005-4033-4067.

End of day summary and outlook for 07Dec06

The markets today closed almost a the same levels as yesterday, but we cannot go by that as there was lot of choppiness. Many of the stocks corrected substantially. The advance decline ratio was poor as there 2 advancing to every 5 declining stocks. The NSE Nifty closed at 4015.95 just 0.20 points above the previous close. The BSE Sensex closed at 13949.00 just 11.35 points above the previous close. It was again a case of markets unable to sustain the opening highs. The FIIs were net buyers in the cash market segment for 304 crores, net sellers in the index futures for 294.50 crores and net buyers of 50.52 crores in stock futures.

Tomorrow the markets will open week and recover as the day progresses. The Nifty has the support at 3980-3965-3939 and resistance at 4050.00 Still no panic but caution is definately advised. The rumour in the market now is that it might touch 4300.00 before correcting.

End of day summary and outlook for 06Dec06

The markets today finally managed to trade above the opening high which is a good signal. The volumes were decent but the area of concern is the advance decline ratio which was negetive today. The NSE Nifty closed at 4015.75 with a gain of 14.75 points and BSE Sensex closed at 13937.65 with a gain of 63.32 points. The sensex managed to show the level of 14000 early in the morning for a brief period though. The FII were net buyers in the cash market for 302.42 crores, net buyers in index futures for 208.96 crores and net sellers for 116.91 in stock futures. This is the 6th consecutive day of selling in stock futures. Infosys, Reliance, Relaince communications and Bharti Airtel were the heavy weights which gave a good upmove to the market.

The outlook for tomorrow is agian a repeat of today. The Nifty has to breach the opening high to gain further momentum. Resistance is at 4050.00 and support at 3995.00 levels. It appears that Nifty will go up till 4080 before giving a good correction. The BSE sensex will try to test the levels of 14000.00 again today. It is still advisable to exit long in every upmove.

End of day summary and outlook for 04Dec06

As expected, the markets were positive on 01Dec06 and NSE Nifty tested the psychological level of 4000.00 and closed just a shade below at 3997.60 with a gain of 43.10 points and the BSE Sensex closed at 13844.78 with a gain of 148.47 points. The volumes were back to normal levels after 2-3 days of high volumes due to roll over. As indicated on 30Nov06 the auto sector joined the party with handsome gains in Bajaj Auto, Hero Honda, Maruti and Tata Motors. The FIIs were net buyers in cash segment for 194.84 crores, Index futures to the tune of 308.97 crores and net sellers in stock futures for 95.08 crores. There has been continued selling in stock futures. This very well suggests that a correction is round the corner.

On Monday the markets will open on a good note. The NSE Nifty will face resistance at 4025.00 and has the support at 3930.00 and 3913.00 levels. The BSE Sensex will come closer to 14000.00 levels but the question is how will it react at these levels. Again the opening high has to be breached for any further up move.
